Athletes of our university Mahmud Sabyrkhan and Serik Abzal won 2 medals at the Asian Championship among boxers under 22 years old, which was held from January 18 to 26 in Bangkok.
Mahmud Sabyrkhan won the gold medal, and Serik Abzal won the silver medal.
The winners of the competitions on the yellow continent were met with luxury at the airport by the teaching staff headed by the Chairman of the Board of the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, Daria Kozhamzharova Perneshkyzy, representatives of the boxing Federation, relatives, friends, journalists and fans. Fans prepared various posters for the meeting, sang patriotic songs and prepared a surprise.
"Today, the fans in the country, as always, were very welcoming. The boxers, who had been on the track for a long time and were tired of the competition, were in high spirits.
"I am very grateful to all the fans who supported us. We know perfectly well that you were worried about us and wished for victory. As for the competition in Bangkok, I performed there in the weight category up to 57 kg. This is the weight that is included in the Olympic program. Now that I have switched, it has become more difficult. Nevertheless, I think I have shown good results. The goal is the same as it was a long time ago - winning Olympic gold," said the leader of the national team Mahmoud Sabyrkhan. Happy victory!
